José Luis Escrivà
He studied composition at the Conservatori Superior de Música de València, with Andrés Valero-Castells (2007-2012). Simultaneously, he pursued studies in Musical Education at the Universitat de València, and later, Master's studies in Contemporary Music and a Doctorate at the Universitat Politècnica de València (2012-2013).
On a personal level, he continued his composition studies with Voro García, and following his advice, moved to Paris to complete his training in the field of research and computer-assisted composition, under the tutelage of composer José Manuel López López. Thus, he joined the Université de Paris 8 as a visiting doctoral student, within the Centre de Recherche Informatique et Création Musical (2015-2017). Subsequently, as a research student, he expanded his composition studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Paris, under the tutelage of Stefano Gervasoni (2016-2017). In 2017, he obtained his Doctorate in Music, with cum laude distinction and international mention, from the Universitat Politècnica de València.
Additionally, he has attended conferences, courses, and master classes organized by institutions such as IRCAM or the Divertimento Ensemble Academy, and taught by composers such as: Hèctor Parra, Georg Friedrich Haas, Franck Bedrossian, Yann Robin, Jean Claude Risset, Luis de Pablo, Alberto Posadas, Leonardo Balada (among others).
He is the winner of the National Music Award Valencia Crea (2012) and the Salvador Seguí International Chamber Music Composition Competition (2014). He was also awarded the grant from the Institut Valencià de Cultura for the advancement of young musicians (2017/2018), and on two occasions (2015 and 2018) the Grant for the Expansion of International Studies from the SGAE Author Foundation. He has been a resident of the College of Spain in Paris and composer-in-residence of the III Music Festival of Ares del Maestrat.
He is a founding member of the composers' group Somelgrup, dedicated to the creation, dissemination, and promotion of contemporary music, and artistic director of the Mostra Sonora de Sueca, a festival dedicated to new music creation.
He has received commissions from institutions such as the Institut Valencià de Cultura, Festival Ensems, ARIAM (French Ministry of Culture and Education), Mostra Sonora de Sueca, Sueca-Sax, Arnuero International Chamber Music Competition (CMCET), Project Pinazo (among others), as well as from internationally renowned soloists and groups such as Paco Varoch, Ricard Capellino, Antonio García Jorge, and the Fabrik Quartet.
Similarly, his music has been performed by excellent ensembles throughout Europe and Spain, such as Ensemble Multilatérale, Ensemble 2e2m, Ensemble Aleph, Ensemble Écoute, Divertimento Ensemble, Fabrik Quartet, Grup Enigma, Quintet Cuesta, Municipal Band of Valencia, Municipal Band of Castellón, Municipal Band of A Coruña, etc.
He has developed various research projects within the ISEACV faculty research program (2019-2024), and has been the director and co-director of several undergraduate and master's theses. He is currently working on a creative research project that explores how the performer and the unconscious influence the creative process of musical composition and how they contribute to the creation of innovative and experimental works.
He has been a professor of composition fundamentals at the Conservatori Professional de Música de Torrelavega, and interim professor of composition and music technology at the Conservatori Superior de Música of Alicante, Castellón, and Valencia, respectively. He is currently interim professor of composition at the Conservatori Superior de Música of Alicante.
